My Students

Our school is a Title I school with predominantly English language learners who come from low income families. Ninety percent of our children come from families that are at or below poverty level.

My class is full of sweet, active kindergartners who are excited to begin the path of learning.

They come in every day ready to experience new things. I want to start them on their way to being lifelong learners in an environment that makes learning joyful and makes my children feel respected and loved.

My Project

Science is most of my students' favorite subject. They love to experiment and build. They are excited to explore the world around them.

I would like to use my students' love of science to help them become super readers and writers.

I am asking for a Fairy Tale Steam Kit which combines great literature with steam activities. The kit encourages the children to solve a problem that a fairy tale character has by drawing and writing their solutions and then testing the solutions out.

Boogie Boards will let my students draw a solution to a problem and if their solution doesn't work they can try again with the push of a button.

These materials allow the children to be creative and imaginative while having fun and practicing literacy skills.
