Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the best group of 4th grade students. We come from a variety of backgrounds. We are a diverse Title I school. My students have worked very hard to learn and grow and have shown tremendous growth since beginning their elementary school careers.
Every day, we work on being the best we can be.
My students are future leaders, innovative business people, doctors, pilots, writers and hopefully, lifelong learners. I love my students and want the best for them. We are focused on not only academics but also on our social and emotional skills.
I know not every student has an ideal home life. As their teacher, it is my goal to provide them with the best learning environment possible. I want my students to feel loved, safe, valued and inspired. My hope is that their experience in our classroom is a positive, memorable one.
My Project
We would love a class subscription to the Scholastic StoryWorks Magazine. This magazine is exciting because not only does it give students something new to read each month, students enjoy the engaging articles and the fact that its theirs! I love how engaged the students are with reading and I love how excited they are to read their new magazines.
The classroom discussions surrounding the monthly debate article will give my students practice in using the discussion skills they are learning.
We will use the debate articles to inspire the development of our reading skills as well as our opinion writing skills. Students will gain fluency skills through the plays and poetry. The fiction and non fiction articles include differentiated questioning and will be used in small group learning.
