This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Leadership is one of the first words I think of when I imagine the students I teach. Our school serves students in grades 6-12 and teaches them not only academics, but leadership skills beyond the comprehensive middle or high school. Over the past couple of years, we have become one of the top-performing schools in our district, and my goal is to continue with this trend. I've had students tell me, "This is the most I've ever read!" and I want this to continue to prepare them for college and life after high school.
My Project
These novels will help to enhance the love for reading I am trying to implement in my classroom. I implement independent reading into my daily lessons, and I want my students to access to novels they want to and look forward to reading.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently.
All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I love to see them pick a book they really enjoy and delve into it. My students will greatly benefit from these independent reading books.
