This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are special because they have a unique desire to want to learn. They face many challenges coming to school, but despite all the challenges, our students and our school succeed. Many of our students live in poverty and lack the many resources they need at home and at school to meet the needs of our changing society. We have students who attend our school who still don't have access to personal computers in their homes. Many students are able to use their parents' smartphones as a means to connect with technology, but it is not a substitute for having a personal computer to complete homework assignments and learn more about the world around them.
My students have a desire to want to know more about our world and how it works.
I'm empowered to help teach them all they need to know to be able to interact in a society that focuses on math, technology, and science. When students have a desire to learn, it helps to motivate me to make sure they have the tools they need, so they will be able to make an impact on their future.
My Project
I would like to bring diverse books to my classroom that will help my students to be inspired to love and respect all people. Books are a great way to expose students who may not have the opportunity to meet people of different backgrounds. By exposing my students now when they grow up they will know how to respect and love others.
I want my students to have opportunities to read a great selection of books that will give them background information to learn about others who may not look like them.
I love reading and exploring various authors and I want my students to find the love in books that have inspired others to do what helps make them happy.
