My students come to class daily ready to work and play. Parents work hard to try to give their students everything they can. We are located in a rural section of the foothills of North Carolina. Our school is a Title I funded school with 100% of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch. It is my goal that every child enjoys learning and grows to be a very successful citizen. The best way for this to be done is including the family in education. It takes a village to raise a child.
My Project
Children's books are a great way to start the important conversations that must take place about making a difference through small acts of kindness or a larger movement that can change the world.
These books will introduce students to the many different topics they will face as they mature adults and teach them that tolerance is so important for the future.
These books will get my class to think about how they should act towards others and how they can ignite change instead of hate.
First grade is an important year in school. Students are starting to see how others can be different. Now is the time that we teach children how to be a good friend and listener, how to appreciate the uniqness of all people. Using the paper, stickers, and pencils we will show our classmates how we appreciate their uniqeness with cards and words of kindness.
