My Students

We are a Title I school in a small, rural neighborhood. My kindergarten students are ready to explore and learn! They are energetic five and six-year-old girls and boys who love to be in the middle of everything. When given the opportunity, they can make substantial discoveries while having fun. The best part is that they do not even realize they are learning as they explore. I love seeing the excitement on their faces as they make these new discoveries with their friends.

My Project

I am so excited about the endless possibilities coding offers to my kindergarten students! By placing story pictures under a clear mat and allowing my students to program the robots to go in story order, they will be working on their retelling skills and be able to practice coding at the same time.

One of the biggest benefits of students learning to code is they become problem solvers!

They also become better organizers which will assist in writing skills and their creativity is enhanced. Math skills will definitely be improved as they are involved with coding. By using Bee-Bot and the Robot Mouse, my students will actually be learning a technology language that will assist them as they get older. They can also use this for math, science or social studies.
