Help me give my students Osmo Genius and Creative STEM kits to introduce them to a new world of coding.

In our class, we are a family, not your average family, but a family who cares, where everyone matters and they are always greeted with a warm smile and a fist bump. My students are creative and eager to learn new things. They love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions. This school year I am part of a pilot program that will be introducing coding to my scholars. I will be teaching 25-30 third grade scholars this new material with the possibility of it expanding in the coming years. We are a Title I school, where more than two-thirds of my scholars are from low socioeconomic backgrounds. My students have the desire to learn but do not have the resources or funds available to expose them to certain experiences and opportunities. As their teacher, I feel it is my responsibility with the help of others to provide them with the resources they need to have those experiences.
“Learning to write programs stretches your mind, and helps you think better, creates a way of thinking about things that I think is helpful in all domains.”—Bill Gates
The Osmo Genius and Creative STEM kits that I have selected will make a difference in my scholars by fostering social intelligence, creativity, and problem-solving. They will have an understanding of computers and learning the basics of coding. These kits will provide my scholars with endless possibilities to immerse themselves in computer programming skills.
“Coding is the language of the future; it's fun, collaborative and creative."My scholars will be able to partner up as they maneuver various hands-on activities. It's my role to facilitate their learning, but these kits will provide immediate feedback and give them autonomy with their learning.
