Help us go "GREEN"! Special Education is what I get to teach at an Elementary level. My students range from Kinder to 5th grade and I teach Reading, Math, and Language.
We have a new Math program that we can no longer purchase workbooks for(nor are we allowed to copy them: copyright laws) due to budget cuts. Thus, we want to help the environment as well as use these to continue our Math program. Hopefully we will also find other uses for them in other subjects as well.
These clear sleeves will allow us to use our workbooks and hopefully increase my students knowledge in Math with the twist of using dry erase markers. It will also allow them to easily correct problems. I have a student that I can see how the colored borders will also help with their visual discrimination issues (staying on the page). I believe they will look at this as a fun way to learn and work on Math. I want to also share these with other teachers throughout our building. Especially my Special Ed. teammates. It's a known fact that our brains remember/memorize better when using color. This will be an added plus when using colored dry erase markers.
You have the power to support my students without even knowing them. What a wonderful opportunity to touch the life of a child and their learning environment. You will make it possible for them to see how you can learn using a different type of reinforcer. I know my students love to be the teacher and use teacher type materials. I believe they will be excited about learning in this manner. I also think we can use these for Reading to underline important information, context clues,and also more Math that can be worked on the clear sleeves. Such as solving problems without a sheet in it(using it empty). There are probably numerous ways these can be used but are yet to be discovered! Will you allow us the be the ones to discover them?
