This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I say it loud and proud . . . MY STUDENTS ARE FROM DETROIT! They are intelligent, hard working and excited to learn new things and their families have a strong commitment to making sure their children get a quality education. In addition, Detroit Public School Community District is going through a renaissance and has made a renewed commitment to our students and the communities they call home. How exciting that you could be part of these positive changes by supporting my class!
My Project
These materials will allow my students to create presentations about animal adaptations and also the 19th Amendment - the right to vote. The poster paper will be used along with the markers to create visual displays that contain the information they're presenting. The classroom laminator will allow me to protect small pieces of their work while it is displayed in various areas around the school.
Learning to be comfortable speaking in front of a group is a skill they will use in high school, college and in any future career they might choose.
In addition, they thrive when given the opportunity to be creative and are much more engaged in the lesson. These experiences build confidence they can draw on in the future.
