I taught Kindergarten for 7 years. As a first year Transitional Kindergarten teacher in a new district, I am thrilled to begin my new adventure. I am excited to say I feel like a first year teacher! My students are in a Transitional Kindergarten classroom for multiple reasons; some kids have later birthdays, some need an extra year of learning, and some kids need more time to develop socially.
My students will enter the doors of our classroom and know that we are a family of learners ready to embark on this new journey.
We all come from different places and have a multitude of backgrounds. Within our four walls we will become a family.
My Project
I am excited to order several items for my classroom. These items will make a difference by allowing students to explore with math materials and phonics materials during social centers time. The Magna tiles will allow children to creatively make 3D shapes. We will use blank dice for patterning, and putting dots on the dice for larger or smaller numbers. Alphabet stampers and tactile letters will be used to help children learn their letters and sounds through hands on materials.
Exploration is a key component in early childhood.
Children need time to explore and use their creative side to enhance their learning experience. Social centers is one of young learners favorite times of the day. This is the time where they can be free to choose what they want to do. Social centers is not only learning time, but also a time for children to express themselves in a creative environment.
