This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Imagine learning science and math through mostly auditory means--you have nothing to look at or examples for you to practice with, just a verbal description. Help my students experience math and science concepts to their full potential.
My students are in Louisiana. They are elementary aged.
They are very eager to learn, but they need manipulatives to touch in order to learn best! They cannot see textbook graphics well or not at all, and 2D representatins can only do so much tactually.
My Project
My students will be able to interact with the lessons and content being learned. They will be able to manipulate the science models; and for the first time, they will have a true "picture" of what parts of the human anatomy entails. Instead of memorizing all the facts; they will be able to experience the science.
These items could inspire my students to be involved in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) careers one day!
But more importantly, they will provide my students equal access to the curriculum and learning!
