Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are lovely third grade students who are eager to learn using new innovating approaches. The students attend a Title I school, where the budget has had an impact on the resources available to them. The students live in a low-income neighborhood, where one community park has become their savior and has become their only outdoor outreach.
My students are learners with disabilities, such as learning disability, speech and language impairment, etc.
Their class setting is a self-contained classroom with a teacher and a teacher assistant. These students are entering the third grade already two or more years behind academically. These scholars are beyond ready to succeed in life.
My Project
The use of technology can help expand the learning experience for my students. Tablets can be easily used to access education programs that are linked to the learning in the classroom.
The engagement demonstrated by students when technology is part of the lesson has certainly served as a drive for this project.
My students enjoy learning through the use of hands-on activities, where they take responsibility for their learning. Being a self-contained third grade classroom, most of my students are visual learners and learn best through the use of visuals, such as, videos, pictures, etc. This opportunity will allow my students to use innovative ways to enhance their learning.
