My students need these Kindle Fire Tablets to help differentiate their learning. As third graders, ability levels vary greatly in math and reading, these resources would allow me to reach my students at the same time.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Like most children, my students come to school willing to learn and are capable of success. However, they come to school with stresses most children should not be aware of, and they come to school with very little background knowledge. This is largely due to the lack of exposure to literacy and experiences. I have the amazing opportunity to create the feeling of success for my students- some for the very first time of their educational paths. When students feel safe to learn and feel even just the slightest bit of success, amazing things take place! I make every attempt to expose my students to as much as I can within my classroom. Having all of the supplies necessary to do so, can be overwhelming and difficult.
My Project
I strongly believe that every child deserves to feel successful. Through today’s technology, I am able to reach and motivate more students than ever before. Students who would typically fill their afternoons with video games are able to learn through digital learning apps for both reading and math in a way that engages them and they learn from at the same time! Unfortunately, in our school, many families struggle to meet their basic needs of their families and that leaves many students stressed out about adult situations much like school supplies or devices to continue their learning journey to become successful.
Like most children, my students come to school willing to learn and are capable of success.
However, because 80% of my students are English Language Learners and Special Education Students, they come to school with very little background knowledge and vastly different ability levels. This is largely due to the lack of exposure to literacy and experiences. I make every attempt to expose my students to as much as I can within my classroom. With the use of these Kindles, I would have the amazing opportunity to create the feeling of success for my students- some for the very first time of their educational paths. Students would have the ability to conduct their own research on self-selected topics that have peaked their interests, use apps and tools to dive deeper into content, and practice fluency by creating videos through our county-wide landing page. All of these opportunities will create responsible and respectful digital citizens, something our young population has the ability to change moving forward. Having all of the supplies necessary to do so, can be overwhelming and difficult for a class in a Title I school.
