This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My friends are all at least 4 years of age, and will be going into kindergarten next year. They are fun loving, creative, outgoing, smart, funny and imaginative individuals. The majority of them have a first language other than English, so they are also learning English while they are here. Along with learning key skills for going to kindergarten we still like to teach through the use of play. The friends enjoy this play time and learn so many valuable skills that they will need to be able to flourish in their later education. Through play I am able to provide them with a want and love of learning!!
My Project
My friends need everyday experience with sensory materials. They love to play in the water, and are getting board with the same old things. These magnetic letter and number fish would allow them to work on letter and number identification. The blocks will support them in their social skills, sharing and peer relationships. Water is used most everyday in the classroom and they would love some new exciting materials to incorporate into their everyday learning. Some of these materials can also be used outside of water play, and in other sensory materials and also other areas of the classroom !
