My students need writing center resources. We have recently learned how to use the computer to research topics. They then have to print off a picture of what they are researching and write topic facts.
We are a Title I School, which means that our student body comes from a low socio-economic environment. One of my missions is to expose my students to opportunities that they normally wouldn't have the chance to experience, the use of technology is a great way to do this. My class is full of 24 six to seven year olds, who are eager to learn. First grade is such a big year for learning and I try to make their days full of hands-on, thought provoking learning. Technology is becoming more and more important in the classroom as it becomes more and more prevalent in the world around our students.
My Project
My students need a more organized writing/reading area. We need books sorted in tubs so we can find topics to read and learn about more easily. Writing tubs will be displayed so students can write information that they find in researching books. These writing tubs will hold different writing materials such as writing papers, pencils, themed books, and word cards. The writing tubs and the writing area will have labels that are laminated. These labels will make it easier to find topics that students can research. We would also like to have a printer in our writing area, so we can have easier access to print off info that each student is researching.
I love being able to create a learning environment where the class is excited to learn about new things.
A great way to learn about new things is by researching certain topics.
We will be working on researching the internet . Students will be able to print out facts or pictures for their topic. This will create a fun learning experience that they kids will be excited to do!
