"Free the child's potential, and you will transform him into the world." - Maria Montessori.
I teach first, second, and third graders in an urban public Montessori school.
They are curious learners that work and learn from each other! Through the prepared environment, the students use materials to gain understanding and move to abstraction. They learn from each other and challenge each other to be the best they can be.
Our school zone includes the local shelter. We have multiple families who are struggling to meet their basic needs. The classroom is a safe, consistent place for them to come and be a part of our school family. As a teacher, my hope is that they become confident in who they are and free to question, explore, and understand this world we live in.
My Project
"The more you read the more things you know. The more that you learn the more places you'll go." ~ Dr. Seuss
The books listed in this project will inspire students to go deeper into many subjects taught in the class.
I recently finished conferences with my students and their families. They have shared with me topics and interests they want to study and know more about. The books listed are all about our world, history, animals, plants, layers in the sky, and the world below our feet. It will help students develop and understand this wonderful world we live in.
