Children learn best through play, and my students would love to have educational games that will allow them to practice skills they are learning.
My students are 4 and 5 year olds who learn best when they are allowed to explore and be hands-on.
They need plenty of opportunities to be physically active and participate in play. Learning centers encourage children to collaborate and develop their cognitive and social skills.
My Project
This year, I am trying to teach using small group instruction. While I'm working with a group of students, I would like to provide learning centers that will engage the students while allowing them to practice their skills. I am slowly building my inventory of games in order to offer the children variety in their choices.
Since implementing small groups and learning centers, I have really seen a difference in my students learning.
When I work with small groups, there is more opportunity for students to participate, and I'm better able to meet the needs of individuals. The other students in learning centers are engaged and excited to be able to play with the different educational games and activities. Because they are working in groups, they are also learning how to help each other and problem solve together.
