Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a brand new 3K classroom in a school in New York City!
Ninety percent of my school is living below the poverty line.
But despite this, they come ready to learn each and every day!
This is the first year my school is providing a 3K classroom, or like a pre-preK. My students are always looking for new adventures and experiences! They are developing so much in these early years! Their fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and social emotional skills are all growing tremendously as they are learning how to navigate the school environment!
My Project
These materials will help my students learn through their engagement in building and playing with them! They can learn through building with different colors and shapes! It will get them thinking outside of the box and creatively in order to further their knowledge and language.
Not only will they be learning through building, but these manipulatives will also be developing their fine motor skills!
Developing these fine motor muscles and skills is such an important and often neglected stage of children's development. This fine motor work paves the path for them to be able to write correctly with a pencil and cut with scissors, as well as, zipping their jackets and tying their shoes!
I am asking for these materials for my students in order for them to be able to develop these much needed skills.
