My Students
My 20 students came to me with a variety of experiences and family situations. One thing I have noticed about this group is they are so excited and eager to learn. Our school is located in a small, community-strong city in Iowa and I try to create the same type of community feel in my classroom.
Whether they come in tired without breakfast or well-rested with a full tummy, my goal is to get them all smiling and excited to be at school ready to learn.
Kindergartners are amazing little people because everything is so new and exciting to them. My class is no exception to this, they love learning and get so excited and curious about the events in our day.
My Project
This project will help my students learn as scientists, engineers and mathematicians. These new manipulatives, like the Magna-Tiles, will help them develop many skills taught in kindergarten including social, academic and creative thinking.
The rhyming pebbles can be used for many different literacy concepts including rhyming, retelling, writing, and open-ended exploration.
I will use the materials during morning activities, math groups, and literacy rotations. They can also be used to meet specific needs and for imaginary play. All of these new manipulatives will help my students learn to build, create, collaborate with peers and problem solve in many different ways.
