My students live in a rural community of about 2,000 residents. They may not realize it yet, but they are growing and learning in a very supportive and tight-knit community that cares about each of them. In my classroom, I have 15 kindergartners of varying social, emotional, and academic needs. They are creative, clever, and spontaneous! They have so much excitement for school and learning; it makes my job so enjoyable! My students are unique individuals with unlimited potential. It is my job to ignite their excitement for learning so they can reach their full potential!
My Project
My students need financial literacy books and dramatic play supplies to learn essential life skills through play and exploration. The books will help students learn the difference between needs and wants as well as how to be responsible with money. The books will be used as read alouds then will be placed in the classroom library for students to reread. The dolls will be used in the dramatic play area as a nursery. The vet supplies will also be used as a dramatic play center. Dramatic play is an essential component of early childhood development.
When children engage in dramatic play they are learning important social and emotional skills including empathy as they play various characters.
Students who get the opportunity to role play learn essential social skills such as turn taking and sharing.
Thank you for checking out our project and helping us learn vital life skills through books and through play!
