Help me give my students 10 of these Lewo Stacking Block Games so that I can differentiate content and include different concepts in one game for my learners!
I teach in a rural school in Nebraska. Over 65% of our students receive free and reduced-price lunches. My classroom consists of 18 very active 7 and 8-year-olds. My second graders are inquisitive, creative, and they are so happy to be back in school again! With that being said, there is much recovery ground to cover in all academic areas, and lots of new learning experiences to be had and discovered!
My Project
Game-Based Learning plays an integral role in teaching by making students collaborate, communicate, interact and work in teams. Strategic games improve the functioning of the brain. Gaming creates a dynamic that can inspire learners to not only develop necessary skills, but build an emotional connection to learning and subject matter as well!
I'm very big on making the learning environment a fun and organized one, especially now during the pandemic.
Playing games is one way students can still connect and learn how to cooperate and work together. And playing games is an excellent support to students that helps make learning fun! In my opinion, it is critical that all games have a purpose and a meaning, and that every single student is accountable for their learning! Additionally, all games should incorporate movement and help the students practice and or review skills that they are learning in class. Further, games don’t just help us learn hard skills, either. More and more research is finding that video games effectively teach important soft skills like teamwork, critical thinking, and decision-making.
The best thing about this Jenga style game is that it can be customized for any subject, skill, and grade level. It can be designed to fit the needs of ALL of my students! All students will work as a team! This is a great way to differentiate content and questions, as well as include different concepts in one game. Additionally, this game is also very rigorous, it has students working towards a common goal, and it keeps all students accountable as they work together.
