I work with 13 pre-k students, four days a week in a small town in Maine. This year my classroom is dominated by boys so we are very active. We teach children through one-on-one, small group, and large group instruction. The children are so eager to learn and love to engage in hands-on activities to learn skills through their play. They love dinosaurs, insects, anything animals, and working with their hands on projects.
We appreciate you supporting our project and thank you!
My Project
Four year olds learn through doing and manipulating things more than sitting and listening to a circle time lesson. My classroom is always changing themes and materials and having materials that match that theme (such as dinosaurs or insects) enriches their learning and you can help with that.
The more pretend play and hands-on activities we can give them, the better they’ll be prepared for Kindergarten.
The various counters included can be used for math activities from counting, sorting, to patterning and color recognition. The life cycle materials help enrich the science side of our classroom. We will be looking at the life cycle of butterflies at the end of the year and having a physical manipulative to explore can help connect our lessons to those with a kinesthetic learning style.
