My preschoolers enter my classroom each morning eager to learn and full of imagination. My students thrive on activities that can utilize their imagination.
They enjoy building things at the block center, interacting in the dramatic play area, and playing outside on our playground.
They love being able to be creative as they are learning. Our school is home to students that come to us from a wide range of socio-economic status. The majority of my students come from moderate to low-income households.
My Project
My plan for this school year is to transform our Dramatic Play Area into new play areas throughout the year. Our first transformation will be to turn our play area into a Veterinarian's Office with my preschoolers as the Veterinarian. Students will learn how to take care of animals, how to share and communicate with their classmates, and increase their vocabulary and imagination.
My students will grow intellectually and socially as they take on the role of a veterinarian or the owner of a cute little puppy or kitten.
I want to provide veterinarian tools such as costumes, pet carriers, pets, and equipment to care for their pretend pets to enhance their imagination. Students will have access to fiction and non-fiction books that they can use to learn about taking care of pets. My preschoolers love to share about their pets that they have at home and I know that through your help my students will have an area in our classroom that they can pretend that they are caregivers to pets while at school.
