Help me give my students osmosis and the cell membrane kit to allow students to observe the water flowing across a membrane but not the sugar molecules.
My students are in a school that is 40% economically disadvantaged and live in the rural foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Our school encourages our students to strive for excellence even while learning from home.
Currently, I am teaching my students through online lessons and videos of experiments through Instagram.
Not knowing when our school will reopen, I plan to stay in contact over the summer with current and future students. One of my goals will be to teach students through observation, sketching, and quality notes. I plan to teach these skills through phenomena, manipulatives and lab experiments.
My Project
Phenomena is a way to start students observing and thinking so they can later relate to the lesson. During COVID 19 and future school years, my students need manipulatives and lab materials to further explore the standards they are learning.
The Osmosis and Cell Membrane kit will allow the students to conduct experiments and actually observe what the cell membrane allows to flow through.
The cubes will be a way for students to visually recognize balanced and unbalanced chemical equations. I will use the posters and other material around the classroom with the standard it relates to next to it.
