My students are a creative bunch of kiddos, who enjoy fun, exciting, creative, unique, and "out-of-the-box" ways of learning! They are a very enthusiastic and involved group of children who demonstrate their learning in very creative ways. They are also a very smart but busy group and are constantly excited to learn and always want to learn new things. However, their busy bodies get in the way, and they sometimes have a hard time keeping their self-control. They love being able to apply their learning technologically.
My Project
A sensory light table is essential in a kindergarten classroom because research shows that play through a sensory table builds nerve connections in the brain’s pathways, which lead to the child’s ability to complete more complex learning tasks. While performing sensory play, it supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction. It also develops and enhances memory. It is beneficial when aiding students with anxious feelings, and can transform a child's frustration with learning. Sensory tables also help children learn sensory attributes. The best part of a sensory table is that it provides an opportunity for every child to succeed. Children who struggle academically can find comfort and fun in sensory play. Sensory play is both therapeutic and calming.
