This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are loving 2nd grade group who are economically disadvantaged. I am looping up with my students this year. I taught them last year in 1st grade. Most come from homes with limited learning opportunities and resources. When they are introduced to the opportunity to discover and learn, they are very excited. They enjoy exploring new things. They are interested in learning with technology when it is different then the standard test prep. My class is a chance for these children to have experiences that will prepare them for third and beyond!

My Project

Computer-based learning, when balanced with hands-on experiences, is extremely valuable in the classroom. This play system is an effective tool for students that have never been exposed to letters before as well as students in the 5th grade. The system allows an avatar for each child so they may return to their progress and continue to build on the skills they have mastered.

By providing our young learners with the technology Osmo offers, we give them the opportunity to explore and create on screen as well as in their hands.

Our 2nd graders will not realize they are learning to code. Awbie games introduce learners to coding, an invaluable skill for today’s students. The extra bases will allow us to utilize these programs as a small group activity in our classroom. All of these programs provide fun, engaging games that grow with our learners and will allow us to seamlessly integrate technology every day.
