Learning Through Music

My students need -2- 10 piece player Rhythm sets and -2- Greg and Steve musical CDs.

I am a first grade teacher at a Title I elementary school in Florida. My students have parents who work multiple jobs and have little extra money to further their educational needs.

More than 50% of my students are on free and reduced lunch. In the afternoons many of them are latch key children because their parents are at work. Sometimes having to cross great obstacles to get their attention, I provide a loving, nurturing and fun environment for them to learn in when my students come to the classroom.

I have found that music can be a great educational tool. If you grab the students' attention and let them experience the art of making music by adding it to your daily curriculum, you will find that they focus more. You are not only grabbing their interest, but they are so excited to be a part of the "plan". Music has a way of making their home problems go away and let them know that they are going to learn and have fun. They seem to forget, sometimes, the troubles that they have. Even though its only for 6 hours a day, they know they will be back in my classroom tomorrow. My students would greatly advance if I am able to put more music into our day. With the instruments they will be able to dance and become a part of it. Every subject you are able to have music included. My students need 2 - 10 piece player Rhythm sets and 2 Greg and Steve musical CDs.

I know that there are some true music lovers out there. We all know how much that music has affected our own lives. Whether we are sad, happy, or lonely music can make a huge difference. I believe that with these music supplies I can help a child to have fun and at the same time learn concepts that they will need to advance. Having these musical instruments in my classroom and the ability to get students out of their seats will have an awesome impact on them. You can make this all possible. You can be a part in making a sad child laugh and sing. Please help us.
