Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a special education, self-contained kindergarten through 2nd grade classroom. My students are in a special education setting for a majority of their day in order to access a specialized curriculum and differentiated lessons in order to be successful.
My students are a diverse group of learners with amazing capabilities who show their knowledge in different ways.
Although my students learn in a different way, they are always striving to meet individual and academic goals.
Within my classroom, my students are provided multiple facets to demonstrate their learning. By supporting our classroom, you will be providing students with an opportunity to experience new and engaging lessons.
My Project
This project is specifically asking for children's books for my students to use. Within our district we are working towards developing student's ability to closely read a text. Close reading is where teachers and students engage with a text by reading it multiple times and analyzing the plot, characters, theme, vocabulary, and moral of the story.
By donating to our project, you will provide my students with access to engaging children's literature that will deepen their reading comprehension abilities.
Each of these books are of high caliber literature and visuals which will engage the students as they increase their reading abilities.
