My students come from a large and diverse K through 8 high poverty school in a high crime area of Philadelphia, which receives Title I funding. Most of my students are from low-income families. My students live in a variety of different living situations including homelessness. A full 100% of my students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. They are future scientists, authors, engineers, artists, and computer programmers.
My incredible students are in third and fourth grade.
They are excited about learning and want to excel in school. Many of my English Language Learners struggle with daily learning. They come from diverse backgrounds with a variety of needs. Some have physical needs while others have autism, ADD, or ADHD. Still others face emotional challenges, but all of the children have the same desire to learn.
My Project
These materials will make an immense impact on my student's ability to learn. The headphones will give my students the listening center they need to work independently and to help them develop stronger comprehension skills. So many of my students are auditory learners and these headphones would give them the tools they need to be successful in the classroom. The ink and paper will give my students the ability to print out their completed work. The binders will help my students stay organized when completing their assignments. The notebooks and calendar will help my students practice and learn the days and months of the year.
These resources will give my students the necessary tools to be successful in the classroom.
