Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! Although our school is compromised of low income and economically challenged students you would never know. We treat every school day as an adventure to learn something new and share it with others. Due to Hurricane Harvey we lost 12 instructional days and you would never know because my students came back excited and ready to begin where we left off. Our classroom dynamics changed when we received an influx of students from neighboring towns that had been damaged by Harvey.
We took this opportunity to embrace our new neighbors and show them how we make school fun and exciting.
My students may not have the best home environment or nicest things, but what they do have is a desire to learn and a drive to succeed.
My Project
The Fire Tablets and headphones will enable my students to take their Accelerated Reading Test without the extended wait time due to only having four classroom computers. As my students finish their work they will be able to use the tablets to access the Happy Numbers Math Program to help reinforce and sharpen skills.
By having a tablet available for immediate access more students will be able to remain actively engaged.
My students are in constant need of basic supplies and by having access to a supply of pencils and a high-functioning pencil sharpener it will enable them to remain on task and not have to worry about finding a pencil.
