Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach twenty preschool children who have autism. We are an ABL (applied behavior learning) classroom where we work very hard on our trials to learn academic and social skills. My children are very energetic, loving, caring and full of laughter!
Most of the children are three years old and are new to the program.
They enjoy music, hands on activities, and lots of toys that make sounds. While they are in this classroom they do trial work and small group activities where they maintain mastery level skills on their current goals.
My Project
A light table can be used to strengthen literacy, math, and writing. It is a good way for children to explore open ended play, arts and crafts as well as teaching educational concepts such as patterns, and number sense. They are able to use this time to work on social skills, fine motor skills, and language skills. This table will give the children a chance to explore letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. They will be able to create letters and numbers and spell their names. Using this light table the children will use their imagination to create whatever comes to their mind!
