I am a preschool teacher for eight students between the ages of three to five with special needs at P811M, The Mickey Mantle Public School. Due to the fact that most children enjoy playing, I have designed my classroom with opportunities for students to learn through play. Through fun filled activities the students are encouraged to refine their skills. These include, but are not limited to, basic academic skills (memory, logical thinking, science, social studies, pre- reading, and pre-mathematic skills.), social skills (sharing, turn taking, negotiating, and problem solving), language skills, and motor skills (fine motor skills, eye- hand movement, and visual discrimination skills). Through board games, students learn to develop a positive self-concept and appropriate pro-social behaviors. All materials purchased will be used directly with the students to increase their skills. Our young students thank you in advance for the generous gift of games for learning.
