Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a community orientated school in Lancaster, California. My 30 kindergarten students are eager and ready to start their school career and love to explore each and every day. These kids are ready to learn but sometimes struggle with sitting still for an extended period of time. My kindergarten students are very loving and always want to help in any way possible!
Exploitative, motivated, and curious; many of these students are ready for any challenge that they are faced with.
They are fearless and ready to expand their learning.
My Project
Wobble chairs, portable lap desks, stools, and wobble cushions will allow for my students to learn from an environment that will promote their learning without having to sit still in a regular chair. Having a new Alphabet Seating Rug will allow for my students to have a spot to sit on the carpet. This rug will promote their learning of the alphabet and colors, along with helping create an area to build community during morning meetings. All of this will make it possible for my students to sit in various seats to figure out which environment works best for their learning style.
Having choices in my classroom will allow for a positive classroom experience for my students!
While for some this will be their first classroom experience it will allow for a positive learning experience where they will be responsible for selecting the best seat to learn in. Each day they will get to explore the various seats through our centers and develop their own learning style to prepare them for a successful school career!
