My students are absolutely great! They have so much zest for life and they are hungry for new learning experiences. Any challenges I present to my students they take in stride and use them to make themselves better. Hurricane Harvey was a great challenge, but they came through on the other side.
My students crave hands-on learning activities.
They thrive when given the opportunity to create and lead. When the going gets tough my kids keep on going and continue to exceed my expectations with every new day. I feel so lucky to be part of their lives.
My Project
I am specifically trying to expand my students' thinking by exposing them to discovery-based learning techniques. Using the interactive number line students will be able to develop a strong fundamental understanding of the magnitude of numbers. This foundation lays the framework for more and more higher level computations and problem solving abilities.
I also want to immerse my students in a literature dense environment.
Strong readers become strong thinkers. Using Greg Tang's math story books my students will have the opportunities to develop stronger reading skills while learning about math in a creative way. We love reading books together and these will be a great blend between math and reading.
