My Students

I teach in a low income/high poverty area. Most of my students come from broken homes, and many have had drugs impact their lives. My goal is to make school a safe place for them, someplace where they come and know they are safe and where someone has put their best interests first.

I try to create hands-on projects that the students will enjoy.

I find that my students learn best that way. Hands-on projects help to hold my students' interests better and help them focus.

My Project

My students love to tell me stories but when asked to write them down they tend to get discouraged. Some have had bad experiences with writing and others have a hard time putting their words on paper. I want to give them a fun way to express themselves and encourage writing.

By using the iPad my students will be able to access digital storytelling apps and software and they will be able to make their stories come to life!

They will be able to add animation to their stories. The software that I plan to use will also help the students develop their writing and practice the skills needed to succeed.
