Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk into my classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what they will learn that day. Many of them come to school with a great amount of baggage, but are able to put that aside while in school in order to learn the most that they can. My students are from a low-income area and and therefore have minimal resources and opportunities at home. Some of my students lost many personal items, due to Hurricane Harvey.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
My students will benefit tremendously from your generous donations.
My Project
My students will work in groups to solve puzzles, create challenges, and practice coding through the Ozobot and the Lego Boost Creative Toolbox kits. With the Ozobots, my students will create shapes and draw lines to follow arrays and create fractional parts with the click of a button. With the Lego Boost Creative Toolbox, my students will be able to create five different robots and code each model to complete a different task.
By incorporating these robots in my classroom, my students will gain the critical thinking and problem solving concepts they will need in real world situations.
The Ozobots and the Lego kits will be used to empower my students to embrace the future and become a maker of technology and not just a user. They will be able to break away from passive instruction and have more time to play, create and investigate.
