Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Art and science are cornerstones of curiosity. "Both science and art are human attempts to understand and describe the world around us."
My students are curious, intelligent kids that are eager to learn more about their world.
All they need are some materials to enhance the learning of science and art from their own home. The children in my school face so many obstacles and access to learning materials should not be one of their worries. Teaching and learning about the core subjects is so much fun when it is connected to art and science. This will help them understand the world around them and develop a love of learning.
My Project
Children look at the world around them through different eyes. They are always observing, wondering, and making connections. As a teacher, I have been able to facilitate their learning of reading, writing, and math though science and art.
My students inspire me every day to learn new ways of looking at the world.
One of my goals is to open up their desire for learning by connecting it to the natural curiosity that stems from science and art. In the past, the materials needed for this process have been provided in the school setting. However, my students' families do not have the means to purchase these materials to use at home.
The resources purchased will be used to teach students the six art forms and to create mini science projects that will let them have a first-hand experience with different science "mysteries" in our everyday lives. I will lead live lessons on how to use the materials for different art and science lessons that will be connected to the core learning concepts of reading, writing, and math.
