My students are thirty-seven energetic three, four, and five year olds who are eager to learn. They come from many different family backgrounds and are each unique in their own way. They are encountering their very first school experience which will set the foundation for the rest of their educational career.
The primary mode of learning for my students is play.
Students participate in "work time" each day when they are able to play in different centers. They are able to choose from areas such as blocks, dramatic play, reading, sensory, writing, art, music, and more.
My preschoolers love to interact with their friends and learn new things. They are excited about the different center areas and each new thing I bring into our classroom.
My Project
Our classroom has a writing center where students can go to practice learning how to write their names, letters, numbers, words, and even their own "stories." Many students visit this center to learn how to write new things and they are thrilled when they learn how to write something new.
Writing does not have to be taught the traditional paper and pencil way, there are many exciting and engaging options that are more appropriate for young minds.
Magic boards, touch boards, and light table tracing cards are just a few things that will offer students a variety of hands-on ways to learn how to write. These materials might be just what reluctant writers need to be successful.
