My students generally come from low-income families that live around the school neighborhood located in City Heights, San Diego. Most of my students are African Americans and Latinos, followed by students from the Pacific Islands or Asian backgrounds. Our school is a unique place. The school has a great percentage of students with special needs. Therefore, our school needs to be equipped with technological devices, lab tools and materials, and other resources that would guarantee that all students have what they need to learn and succeed adequately.
My students will use the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Core Set in order to learn basic concepts of robotics and programming. The main goal of this project is to engage students in the learning process of assembling of functional robotic parts, determining use of parts, and developing computer interaction through coding and data input.
Students will learn and put in practice their basic knowledge of LEGO robotics.
It is crucial that students who plan to pursue a career in engineer and computer programming have the necessary tools that would engage them in participating in memorable creative activities related to their interests.
