Our school is a transition program for students with disabilities ages 18-21 who are learning independent living skills as they enter adulthood. Though they have a variety of disabilities, it doesn't stop them from enjoying and learning through hands-on activities.
My students are all high needs, high energy and highly joyful; it's a challenge to harness all that energy, and I think I've found the solution in the product I'm requesting.
We're an inner-city school with a high immigrant and first-generation American population, as well as students of color. Sixty-eight percent receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
Many of my students are lacking in STEM knowledge. Snap Circuits will give them a chance to create "experiments" to experience electrical concepts in a concrete manner.
The merchandise which I've requested speaks to my students' strengths: Snap Circuits will teach them about physics and motion by assembling simple electronics and observing the resulting actions.
I try to challenge my students daily by engaging their minds and hands. Knowing my students, I'm rather confident that the Snap Circuits learning set will be a big hit and a very useful way to work some STEM activity into their daily classroom routine.
The set will provide 200 fun projects they can build, such as "electric light and switch" and "DC Motor and switch." Building projects teach motion and physics principles in an interactive format.
Snap Circuits are highly recommended by educators and receive very favorable reviews on Amazon.
I have requested four Snap Circuit sets so that my students can work in teams of two. I also intend to share our Snap Circuit sets when my class merges with other team classes in the afternoon. Each hour groups rotate to learn different skills. We will make maximum use of this wonderful product!
