The students in our school have a heart and desire to learn, but many have stressful home situations which can negatively impact the learning environment. Our town has very few resources to help our students; teachers often fund resources ourselves to provide for our students.
Our students need experiences that they are not given at home in order to break the cycle of poverty and give them opportunities for productive futures.
Students' home lives can be very difficult where students are struggling just to get food; therefore it is up to the schools to meet their educational needs and some personal needs as well.
My Project
During this two day event, I'll be able to collaborate with other teachers, as well as Hope and Wade King, who currently teach at the Ron Clark Academy. Through this unique conference, I will have the opportunity to learn from other teachers tips and tricks they use to increase engagement in their rooms.
I have a passion for learning and I want my students to share that passion with me.
This conference offers a variety of sessions from math to literacy and endless new ways to incorporate hands on learning opportunities in my classroom. GYTO will present researched based strategies that can be incorporated into my classroom to reach all learners. I am incredibly excited to learn everything they have to offer and incorporate the strategies in my classroom!
