Help me give my students books and materials that will provide them with hands on experiences to learn key concepts and work on their social emotional skills!
I teach in a substantially separate classroom for students with Autism in grades 2-4. My students struggle with academic and social skills. They spend the majority of their school day in my classroom with integration into their general education classroom for specials, lunch and recess, as well as some academics as deemed appropriate. These children all have a personality all their own!
My students LOVE and need hands on activities and manipulatives to best be able to learn in their environment.
They are always working on socializing with others and working as part of a team. This is an area of great difficulty for my students. They also require consistent schedules and repetition.
My Project
These materials will provide my students with tactile and hands on activities to improve their learning. Many of these materials can be used in remote learning, especially the books, which I can use to record read alouds for my students.
My students learn best by being able to manipulate their environments and these materials will help them do just that!
Most of my students are visual/tactile learners. They struggle to complete tasks independently. By receiving these materials, I can provide my students with the feedback they need (through touch and sight) as well as provide them an opportunity to practice their skills independently. Building independence in my students is one of our key goals.
