Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We start off every morning with our Good Morning songs to get ourselves ready for a great day. At the end of the school year, I want my students prepared to conquer kindergarten. I encourage my students to be creative, and I love teaching them in a developmentally appropriate classroom.
For most of them this is their first experience in a school setting.
The majority of my students did not attend preschool. I have several students who qualify for free and reduced price lunch. I stress the importance of being a good friend to my students. We have a safe and fun learning environment in our classroom where we love to learn new content. In Transitional Kindergarten, it is all about preparing the students for kindergarten while still being developmentally appropriate by allowing them to play and move while learning. I have many students who try so hard but they just can not sit still because they have the need for constant movement which really hinders their learning.
My Project
These materials will impact FOUR classes of learners! We need some new playground items for our kindergarten playground. Right now we only have some tricycles, one basketball, and a stepper path for 100 students. These new items will give our students more options during recess time.
The bowling set and comet balls will not only be fun to play with but will also teach the students about the science concept of push and pull, and the jumbo log builders will teach students engineering while building fun structures!
The students would be so excited and grateful to have some new equipment on the playground that could engage their brains and bodies!
