I teach Physical Setting/Chemistry course at an urban, inner city performing arts high school. Everyday I walk into work and realize how lucky I am to have such a great job with fantastic students! With the new Common Core State Standards coming into effect, I am faced with new teaching challenges to reach my students in the most effective way possible. My Project
Teaching chemistry is more about understanding than memorizing. My students can use the periodic puzzle set, solution demo kit, potato clock, molarity kit, electrochemical kit, and desk organizers to work on their hands-on activities. Without hands-on activities, students may understand the theoretical aspects of science but will struggle to explore the practical part.
Students need to work on hands-on activities to comprehend scientific contents instead of just reading class notes.
Teaching science is more about exploring the phenomena rather than lecturing about it. It is extremely important for the next generation to understand science. We need to encourage our kids and make our classroom exciting through chemistry demonstrations.
