My classroom is buzzing and full of inquiry, collaboration, and amazement. I teach STEM lab (science, technology, engineering, and math) "specials", so my classroom is a fun spot in my students' day! My 600+ Pre K-5th graders enter my classroom excited to learn. I love to hear exclamations of "Wow!", "How'd she do that?", and "Cool!" We spend our time completing hands-on science experiments that enable students to more fully understand the concepts they are learning in their science classrooms. My students are, without a doubt, the sweetest kids at any school I've ever taught at! They are diverse, accepting, and hard working children who deserve the best.
I wish our school had an enormous budget to provide a dream classroom, but that's where generous folks like you make a huge difference in my students' lives!
Many of my students receive free or reduced lunch. There is a good deal of movement between schools. School is the bright spot in many students' lives... the place they feel loved, accepted, and cared for. It's my desire to make school an even better place for them and to provide my kiddos things they may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.
My Project
All kiddos love to be active. I try to provide plenty of opportunities for movement and being active while teaching science.
I would love to allow my kiddos to play different sports while learning science concepts in a fun, interesting, and innovative way.
For example, we could play croquet and bocce ball and learn about how the strength and direction of forces affects an object's movement. The Zoom balls could allow students to play football while learning about simple machines and forces. The Djubi and Flickin Chicken sets will allow us to play catch and toss in different ways, practicing baseball and softball concepts as well as the concept of how much force is needed to move an object a certain distance and the physics of that motion.
