Because of COVID, my students are having a hard time engaging. I teach 35 students who are excited to be at school every day. I have made it a goal in my career to helping students love learning. There are too many times that students try to make excuses to "not go to school." I do this by encouraging students to learn in different ways. I avoid using packets at all costs. I try to use activities and technology to improve the skills and dispositions of each student.
The students in my class are eager to learn in new and creative ways, especially because of COVID.
They work hard every day in class because they know how important an education is. They want to succeed in life and set high goals. One of the ways that I do this is to get to know the needs and likes of all of my students. I create a safe learning environment and show the students how much I love each one of them.
My Project
This 3D printer will give my students another hands-on learning opportunity and a way to gain more learning from being behind because of COVID. It is my belief that students learn best with hands-on learning. This 3D printer will help my students learn how to use a new piece of technology. It will help my students be able to hold something that they are able to measure and find the surface area, volume, and see how these certain shapes take form.
When I teach my students math and science, they love to learn and experience things on their own, and because of COVID, this has not been a huge part of learning the last couple of years.
There is a new surge in the education field called "inquiry learning." This is where students teach themselves new concepts and come up with solutions to problems with their peers. We also have a new push in science and engineering. How better to learn this with a 3D printer. This will allow my students to come up with real-world solutions to real-world problems. As we are seeing a new push to get to space and all of the mechanics that have to work on satellites, space ships, and any other thing that scientific teams are using, my students will be able to design their own inventions, get them printed in class, and be able to test them.
