Learning Resources Programmable Mouse STEM

My students need hands-on experience to appreciate how most technology works. One great way to do this is to use the programmable mouse. The students program a path and watch what he does!

My Students

My computer science classes primarily focus on basic computer skills and typing but we are expanding ideas to expose many other areas of computer science! Students range from Kindergarten through 6th grade.

We are a small rural school in Kansas with over 350 students in my classroom each week.

The budget we work with is tight but the opportunity to be creative and learn something new is endless. My students are eager to learn. Thank you for considering our project!

My Project

Similar to a CODE program we are already using, this mouse follows simple programming commands that allow students to understand and control the mouse. Programming directly relates to many topics we cover in Computer Science class.

Students will watch the mouse come to life as they give it simple commands in the form of an algorithm.

This technology will bring a new meaning to CODING through hands on experiences!

Students will work both individually and in teams to complete various challenges. My goal is that they will begin to correlate the role of technology with everyday tasks and programs and also gain understanding for how it can impact their future.
