This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school has a population of approximately 1,000 students ranging from grades kindergarten through eighth grade, where 95% of the students receive free or reduced-priced lunch. These young girls and boys enjoy being part of our school and learning in our classroom community.
These little boys and girls are energetic and playful.
My Project
My students all have been diagnosed with a disability and encounters learning in a very different way. In the classroom they visited various centers to playfully learn basic motor skills. Despite their disability, they worked hard to stack objects, match colors, and string beads. Although they have deficits, they are not hindered by them.
We were making great strides before the shutdown and these materials will make home feel like the classroom.
In their homes my students can continue to build their skills in manipulating objects. These materials will help them at home continue to learn and grow.
