Learning Outdoors to Stay Safe!

My Students

My students are active, energetic kids who love to learn and love to be outside. We have been back at school in person this school year, and students could not be happier to be in school learning in person and seeing friends and teachers every day. We are doing our best to stay safe as cases start to rise, which means getting outside when we can.

They live in a city in northern Vermont and come from diverse backgrounds.

We have different family structures, home languages, and ethnicities represented in our classroom. Students also come from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, but that doesn't stop their love of learning. The students are happy to come to school each day and love to learn.

My Project

Right now my students and I like to take advantage of our beautiful fall weather and get outside to learn. However, our wooden picnic tables are rotting and falling apart and I am afraid they just won't do the job anymore.

I would like to keep providing my students with tables to do some learning outside, especially as we try to stay safe from COVID, but would like them to be more sturdy and longer lasting than our wooden ones.

With metal picnic tables that are coated, my students will have tables to do their work at that will survive the harsh winters here in Vermont. We will also be able to more easily eat our lunches outside if we are able to get three picnic tables and have seating for everyone.
