Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Kindergarten students love to participate in stories, songs, and center activities on the carpet. My students love coming to school to learn new things and play together.
My students love to sing, dance, read stories, and share their own stories with me and their classmates.
My students attend a low income school and for many of them, English is their second language and they are learning new words every day. My students come into school excited and ready to learn.
My Project
I believe the materials I chose for this project are going to greatly impact my students learning. Many students come into Kindergarten without the foundation skills needed to learn math facts. My students often come to Kindergarten without a sense of independence. I believe these materials will give them that.
My students come from low income backgrounds and often come into school without any number sense at all.
I have included objects that enforce number sense in the classroom. Students will be able to pick an answer they think is right, while using these math centers. The best part about these math centers is that students will be able to take their learning into their own hands and check their answers. The magnetic board will be able to tell them if their answer was right or wrong. This is where real learning occurs, even if I am not sitting right beside them.
